Humans are inherently antifragile.
Bone and muscle grow under strain + progressive overload.
The mind is part of the body, and it too grows when you use it (and atrophies when it's neglected).
The key to better performance, more happiness, and a greater sense of peace...
Is practice.
For example, a simple mindfulness practice will shrink your amygdala (fight or flight center) and grow your prefrontal cortex (judgement center) over time.
Likewise, the act of learning makes you better at learning.
This applies widely:
Want to be confident? Do what a confident person would do.
Want to be resilient under stress? Practice performing under stress before some catastrophe happens.
Want to increase your self-discipline to break addictive patterns? Practice saying "no" to pleasure and "yes" to discomfort by skipping a sugary breakfast and going for a walk during the hottest part of the day.
Want to get better at setting boundaries? Start by practicing "standing your ground": ask people for small favors every day instead of doing everything yourself and start delaying your response to EVERY incoming text and phone call by 30-60 seconds.
You must use the mind to change the mind.
Start doing what you would do if you were who you want to be.
So…
What are you going to do? 👇
